- At the time of cooking and bathing used the air movement, through the use of a fan, is another great way of reducing the moisture in the air.
- Use plastic sheeting to contain and prevent mold spores from spreading.
- Keep all storage at least several inches up off concrete floors and away from foundations where dampness can easily seep in. This is especially important with organic material like cardboard boxes. Avoid using wooden shelves; metal or plastic shelves are preferable.
- Use mold-inhibiting cleaners in bathrooms and kitchens. Portable air conditioning units should be taken apart and cleaned at the start of every season. When painting damp spaces like kitchens and bathrooms, use paint with a mold inhibitor EPA-approved for indoor use.
- If you do have a major leak or flood, quick action can stop mold before it starts. Thoroughly dry soaked carpets and padding, and remove any wet upholstery. Then wash and disinfect all surfaces before the carpet and pad are replaced.
- Remove mold growth, mold stains, and mold odors from all personal property, furnishings, furniture, and equipment that have been exposed to mold infestation by washing and scrubbing the items completely.

Cold sores, the small and painful infecions that attack the skin and nerves and look like chicken pox, are caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1, which is believed to lie dormant in certain nerve cells of the body until it is activated by stress, anxiety, a cold, or excessive exposure to the sun. These cold sores last anywhere from 7 to 14 days.
All of us can catch HSV-1 by kissing a person with a cold sore or sharing a drinking glass or utensils. It is highly contagious infection. Some people use the terms “cold sore” and “canker sore” interchangeably, but they are different. Unlike cold sores, canker sores are bacterial infections inside the mouth that are characterized by small, round, white areas surrounded by a sharp halo of red. Cold sores, on the other hand, are red, pussy blisters usually appearing on or around the mouth and lasting for 1-2 weeks. While cold sores are highly contagious whereas canker sores are not.
Remedies to get rid of Cold Sores
- Clean the cold sore with hot soapy water and a clean washcloth to clean the cold sore and surrounding area at least once a day. Overscrubbing, however, may cause further irritation and prolong the infection.
- Avoid touching the cold sore, as skin-to-skin to contact can spread the herpes infection.
- Apply an over-the-counter anesthetic. A local anesthetic ointment containing benzocaine can help numb the pain temporarily.
- Consult your health-care provider. If you have frequent or severe cold sores, see your doctor. In some cases, an antiviral medication called acyclovir can be used to treat cold sores.
- Pregnancy and menstruation - they can trigger a hormonally induced outbreak of cold sores. Follow the above advice to minimize these occurrences. In the case of pregnancy, follow your doctor’s advice concerning vitamin or supplements.
- Get the proper amount of rest. A person that receives an adequate amount of sleep is more likely to be stronger and healthier than the person who tries to get by on a minimal amount of sleep.
If you suffer from cold sores, you are in the majority. Because herpes is spread so easily, it is important that you take measures to avoid passing the virus on. Frequent hand washing is a must, and be especially careful not to kiss anyone. An accidental peck on the lips has been known to spread the virus. If your cold sores persist for longer than two weeks, even with home treatment, you should consider seeking professional medical treatment, especially if you experience frequent symptoms of the herpes type 1 virus or suffer irritation in the eyes.
Home remedy and treatment for getting rid of cold sores
- Applying Witch Hazel on sores will give you some relief.
- Acidic and salty foods should be avoided. Foods such as chocolates, peanuts, grains, peas, seeds, oatmeal and whole-wheat are high in arginine, therefore they should be restricted.
- Avoid tea and coffee. Eat vitamin rich diet.
- Applying sunscreen to your lips may help prevent sun-induced recurrences of cold sores.
- Changing your toothbrush may help reducing the cold sores.
- Take a leaf from an aloe vera plant and rub the liquid from it onto your cold sore blister.
- Ibuprofen is a useful home remedy for cold sores as well as additional bodily ailments.

Perspiration or sweat stains on the armpits region are not easy to get rid of. These pathetic stains looks bad and makes your favourite shirt or blouse no good for all. These stains are likely caused by a combination of deodorant and perspiration. Many deodorants and antiperspirants contain aluminum salts. When these salts are combined with laundry detergent, especially in cooler water settings, they are not easily dissolved, and they remain on the fabric. A perspiration stain may not be visible right away; heating can cause an otherwise colorless stain to yellow. If you know a garment has been exposed to perspiration, treat the affected area before it becomes a problem.
Getting rid of Sweat stains in Armpit region
- Try soaking your clothes in the hottest water you can find, and then pouring white vinegar directly on the armpits. After that hang in the sunlight.
- Try soaking the T-shirts in warm water with liquid peroxide based cleaner. Wash in the hottest water safe for the fabric. If the stain remains, dampen and sprinkle stain with meat tenderizer. Let stand for about an hour then launder again.
- Washing the stained clothing in a mixture of half a cup of powdered dishwasher soap with half a cup of all-fabric bleach may sometimes remove the stain.
- Apply a paste of baking soda and water to the stains and let sit for about 20 minutes. Wash as usual.
- Rub the dampened stain with a stick of chalk. If you find the right colors of chalk, you can even use this on colored fabrics.
More tips on reducing the armpit stains
- Add half a cup of lemon juice to the rinse cycle of a medium load of whites. This will lightly bleach the clothing. This technique is especially effective on clothes that are then hung to dry on the line.
- Hydrogen peroxide is sometimes sold as non-chlorine bleach and its uses are profound. Just put a couple of teaspoons on the spot, rub it in a little, let it sit, and then throw it in the wash.
- Remember to remove the stains as much as possible before placing the item in the dryer; drying will only make your stains more permanent.
Prevention tips for getting rid of armpit stains
Timing is everything, so try to wash your clothes as soon as you can, especially after sweating excessively. For example, don’t let your sweat-drenched T-shirts linger in your gym bag for days, and always wash your white business shirts regularly. Use some palm olive on the stain and let sit for a while. My grandma used to put white vinegar in with the laundry and it used to work. Always try to remove the stain as quickly as possible before it sets in. Always test your stain-removal technique on less visible areas of the garment. Never rub. Instead, blot the stain gently with a cloth and liquid.
Try using just plain old cold water to rinse the armpits of your shirts when you get home. Apparently cold water is just enough to neutralize the acids eating away at your shirts, and simply soaking the armpits before putting your shirts in the wash should help keep your shirts free of sweat stains.

Ants and similar kind of pests and insects have been around our homes and offices. They keep on making our lives hard and infects our houses. The first step in battling an ant infestation is to eliminate the things in the environment that are attracting them. Remember that ant-proofing your home will also reduce the number of cockroaches, moths and beetles, and predators like spiders. Ants medically known as Hymenoptera Formicidae, are one among the few pests that are harder to get rid of, once they’ve established themselves in your home.
Most common form of ant i.e. the pavement ant invades houses, apartments, and other places where found can be found. It is commonly called the sugar ant and the house ant. Pavement ants are the little brown ants that make small mounds in the sand near sidewalks, driveways, and the sides of houses.
Preventing and getting rid of Ants at home
- Store food in rubbermaid type plastic containers, jars with lids that have sealing gaskets, or jars with tight-fitting hinged lids.
- Refrain from storing anything in the open or in bags.
- Jars without sealing gaskets can permit ants to enter through the threads, so replace any that you find with the above mentioned containers.
- Clean out your toaster or toaster oven after every use.
- Clean (with soap) all of the surfaces in your kitchen at least once a week to remove crumbs and food residue.
- Sweep or vacuum the kitchen floor weekly.
- Try putting some whole cloves around. I put them on the window sills and door jams and also sprinkled a few around in my bottom cabinets. It worked.
How Ant barriers get rid of Ants?
There are a lot of home made or easily available any barriers such as Baby powder, Petroleum jelly, Eucalyptus oil (a little on a cloth goes a long way), Bay leaves (Keep out of reach of children and pets!), Cinnamon, Dryer sheets, Tea tree oil, etc. Below are some more tips on getting rid of Ants at home:
- Clean bench tops and cupboards down really well, and then wipe down with a clean damp cloth that has a few drops of essential peppermint oil on it, you may need to apply a few drops of oil a couple of times.
- Use those ant traps, or raid, if that doesn’t work then you need to try an exterminator, maybe they can give some advice before shelling out a ton of money.
- Use regular chalk to draw a thick line between the food source and their home. Make sure they can’t go around the end of the chalk line.
- Black pepper is a nonlethal, poison free, cheap, and safe way to get rid of ants - sprinkle the black pepper where you see them congregating and watch ‘them scatter. Follow them to where they’re exiting - which is the same spot they’re entering in at - and sprinkle the pepper at that spot to keep them from coming back in.
- Detergent barriers are made by placing something in a larger dish or platter partly filled with a water and detergent mix to create a moat. The detergent will break the water’s surface tension causing any ants that attempt to cross it to drown.
Some more tips to get rid of Ants
Sprinkle powdered red chili pepper, paprika, dried peppermint or borax on ant trails, in cracks and near entryways to deter them from moving in. Create liquid bait by mixing 1 tsp. boric acid with 2 1/2 fluid oz. corn syrup or honey. Heat until the boric acid dissolves. In an eyedropper, add equal amounts of water and solution to drop in places ants frequent for 2 weeks. Fire ants are the most notorious of these common pests. Not only do they have a painful bite, they devour gardens and build unsightly mounds that can be up to 2 feet tall. Careful removal by a professional may be the best option.

Acne and pimple are sometimes seemed to be the same thing. but they are not. Acne is the most common medical term for the latter and pimples themselves can be controlled without the aid of medications provided by your doctor. Hence the difference.
Steps to get rid of Pimples naturally
- Use lemon juice which is a natural bleach and helps in lightening the scars and blemishes of the skin caused by pimples.
- Rosehip seed oil is also another excellent home remedy which reduces pimple scars. It is mostly used in the cosmetic products and used for pimple scarring, facial scarring, surgical scars, sun damage, premature aging, burn marks etc. Massage this oil twice on the pimple scars regularly.
- Apply aloe vera gel to the fresh wounds prevents the formation of permanent pimple scars.
- The most effective remedy for the pimple scars is application of honey several times a day. It will give a natural glow to the skin and will remove all scars.
Care and prevention tips for getting rid of Pimples
- Popping a pimple before taking the puss out of the skin can cause a mild skin infection, a cyst, or worse, a terrible scar.
- Before bursting a pimple, wash your hands and face. Washing your face and hands ensures that all makeup, oils, germs and bacteria are no longer near the pimple you’re about to burst.
- If you’re in need of a quick fix for pimple, a dab of toothpaste on the affected area right before bed can help soothe irritation and reduce redness.
- Pressing and holding a wet tea bag or a cotton ball with a dab of lemon juice against the blemish for five minutes can also reduce swelling and redness.
- Cleanse your skin 2-3 times a day with mild, unscented soap or a specialized acne cleanser that has no harsh chemicals (such as lye).
- Scrub skin gently with an exfoliating pad or washcloth, but don’t rub too hard, otherwise you will sap your skin of its own natural oils.
More tips on how to get rid of Pimples
In every half and hour, apply an ice pack to the pimple and hold it there for about 2 minutes. This will decrease the swelling and redness and help shrink the inflammation and pain that sometimes comes along with it. If you have been using over the counter remedies for two months and there is no real improvement in your spots, this is the moment to go and make an appointment with your doc.
Apply a facial as they can be very relaxing and make you feel properly pampered. However, you should be aware that they should not be used to help treat spots, as this can be quite dangerous if the beautician is not trained. Don’t use brushes, rough sponges, cleansers with granules or walnut hulls, or anything similar on the delicate facial skin. Don’t use oily products, such as hair pomades, heavy oil-based facial moisturizers, or oily cleansers. Use water-based make-up. Don’t rest your chin on your hands or constantly touch your face.
Watch your diet and observe the effects it has on your skin. Whatever science has to say, every body is different and how yours responds to certain conditions can best be determined by you alone. As with any common condition, keeping your body hydrated is sound advice. Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day to help detoxify the body from the inside out.

Blackheads many a times makes you feel bad about your skin and texture. Blackhead removal seems to be the most difficult part of maintaining healthy skin regime. There’s no easy way to get rid of blackheads, the notorious annoying blemishes. A blackhead is caused by excess oil that has clogged a pore. When the pore is open, the oil is exposed to oxygen, which reacts and turns it a dark color, resulting in a black head. The black appearance of them is not caused by dirt, but by the oxidising effect of air on the sebum in a blocked pore and the melanin pigment from the dead skin cells.
How to get rid of Blackheads Naturally?
Below are some of the natural ways to remove and get rid of blackheads:
- Beat an egg white stiff. Add 1 tsp honey. With a cotton swab apply on the face and leave for half an hour. Rinse with warm water and pat it dry.
- Use a mild scrub or exfoliant to remove any dead cells and expose the blackhead. Pat your face dry. Place a slightly warm compress on your face for approximately 10-15 minutes in order to soften the blackhead, making it easier to remove. Pat your face dry again. Place a piece of tissue on the tip of each finger to avoid slipping, which could tear the skin and cause further damage.
- Fill a bowl/basin with boiling water, and a few drops of tea tree oil. Steam your face for about 5 minutes to open the pores and soften the skin. Moisturizing your face with a damp, warm cloth in the evening can help get rid of blackheads.
- You can help reduce the occurrence of blackheads by eating the right kinds of foods — this will reduce sebum production, increase good moisture in the skin and help the production of new skin cells.
- For cleansing your face, try using an oatmeal or almond mask. Mix either oatmeal or almond powder with sufficient rose water to make a soft paste that spreads easily on the skin. Rub this mixture on your skin with your finger, and then use it on the problem areas. Dry for about 15 minutes and then rinse off with cold water.
- The regular use of a yogurt-lentil mask twice a week will keep the skin clean and soft and keep blackheads and skin disorders at bay.
- A paste of fresh fenugreek leaves applied generously over the face at night for 10-15 minutes and washed with warm water helps prevent blackheads.
How to prevent blackheads? Steps for prvention of blackheads on skin
- Do not use bar soap. The ingredients that hold soap in a bar form can clog the pores in your skin. They can also cause skin cells to flake off prematurely and clog the pores. If you have dry skin you will need to use a cleanser that has a bit of moisturizer in it, but be careful! The excess moisturizers can cause an increase in oil on your skin.
- Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin don’t go together, and hair can spread infection.
- Avoid using creamy, greasy, and thick (emollient) products. This alone will greatly lessen your chances of sprouting blackheads.
- Use a gentle and water-soluble cleanser.
- Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful. Except that continuous peeling leads to skin cancer.

Love Handles are those tire like bear bellies which often makes sufferers look like a potato. The anatomic term for these love handles is “obliques” and unfortunately this area of the body is often neglected when it comes to exercising the stomach and abdomen areas. A lot of people don’t realize that in order to tone your middle and love handle area you also need to strengthen your back. This creates a balance in your torso and reduces the fat on your back.
Exercise for getting rid of Love Handles
- Torso Twists - While standing firmly with your feet a shoulder’s width apart, twist your torso slowly to the left side then to the right while at the same time keeping your hips straight and even. Again, there should be no bending. Don’t overdo it; twisting too far makes it easy to pull a muscle.
- Hanging knee-ups - Lie down on your back and bring your knees as high as you can.
- Lower Back Exercise - Lie on your stomach and lift your feet and knees off the floor by flutter kicking repeatedly as if you were swimming freestyle.
Diet and Home remedies for reducing Love Handles
Reduce your sodium consumption. Sodium is found in table salt, seasonings, soups, condiments, and many other prepared foods. It is not just bad because it raises your risk of heart disease and stroke. It also leads to water retention, which can make problem areas like the gut and love handles seem even more prominent. Reduce your consumption of sodium-rich processed foods, and avoid adding salt to the foods you prepare yourself.
You should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Not only does it help reduce water retention caused by excess sodium, but water also helps the body metabolize stored fat into energy and suppresses the appetite. The best way to lose those love handles is to go on a diet that will shed pounds from your entire body. By diet, we mean a permanent eating regimen that stresses healthy foods
Be sure to eat small frequent meals every 3 or 4 hours. When you’re trying to lose fat you may want to skip meals to reduce your caloric intake, but a better–and easier–way to cut calories is to eat smaller meals more frequently. This keeps your metabolism running high.
Surgical Options for getting rid of love handles
Abdominoplasty or a tummy tuck is a love handles removal process in which the excess skin and fat is removed from the middle and lower abdomen and the muscles of the abdominal wall are tightened. Like liposuction, there is some risk involved, and the procedure produces a permanent scar which can extend from hip to hip.
Gastric bypass surgery reduces your bulk by reducing the size of your stomach. But if you are a candidate for this very risky surgery, your problems go way beyond love handles and into morbid obesity.

All the present day women and very few men suffer from the term called Cellulite. It seems to be similar to fat, but it is slightly more than than. Cellulite is simply a term used by scientists to describe the cottage cheesy stuff that you often find on your thighs, butt, and hips.
Women typically have cellulite because their adipose tissue is structured differently from men. Cellulite is the fat that has pushed it’s way up through the deeper layers of the skin, creating the textured, hence named cottage cheese, appearance of the outermost layer of the skin. Cellulite arises when the connective tissue puts pressure on the fat making the fat bulge under the skin. The less fat you have the less noticeable the cellulite is. A healthy diet and exercise help in reducing cellulite. To reduce cellulite you will have to detoxify your body, especially the liver and colon.
Some tips on getting rid of Cellulite fat
- Reduce the size of your fat cells, to reduce the cottage cheese look. This is best accomplished with diet and exercise
- Do exercises that will help you loose weight on your legs and buttocks.
- Do special exercises to improve muscles in your thighs like walking, cycling, climbing stairs, yoga and pilates.
- Liposuction is one way to do this, but sensible eating plan, regular exercise including weight training and little patience is the key to success.
- Wide variety of commercial products are also available for you to use for cellulite reduction
Home remedies for reducing cellulite
- Eat a good diet with lots of fruits and leafy greens
- Avoid junk food, diet soda, processed food and saturated fats such as butter and animal fats.
- Finish your daily shower with a cold rinse to construct blood flow and tone your skin.
- Bathe in a comfortable, not hot seaweed bath to re-mineralize and increase circulation – ideally three times a week.
- Avoid high-pressure massage so as not to damage the peripheral lymphatic function and micro-circulation.
- Avoid high impact exercise that can overload the blood flow system to the heart.
- Some people have tried using intense massage to even out deposits of cellulite. While this may work in the short-term, cellulite will return back after some time.

Acne or Pimples or Zits is a common problem faced by almost all teen-agers and youth. Acne is actually caused because of hormone imbalance. Your skin breaks out because of a hormone called testosterone. Both men and women have testosterone in their systems. There are several different types of acne. The most common form is acne vulgaris, which is the pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads people usually experience during puberty.
Care while trying to get rid of Acne
- Stop popping the pimples and zits. This will only risk encouraging your acne to stay due to inflammation, irritation, and possibly infection. If a pimple comes up in a particularly bothersome place, learn how to target a single pimple. And if you’re determined to pop, learn how to pop a pimple safely and properly.
- Remove dead skin cells regularly by exfoliating.
- Use a gentle scrub with natural exfoliants like ground walnut shells, or use an over-the-counter chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid and glycolic acid.
- Remember that over-exfoliating can actually increase the likelihood of acne by irritating the skin.
- Pat dry, rather than rubbing, since rubbing can cause irritation to the fresh, skin you’ve just revealed.
Personal Care for getting rid of acne
- Don’t stress out! Stressing out can only makes acne worse.
- Find ways to stay calm in your life.
Make sure you are not allergic to products/ingredients mentioned in on the drug before using them.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Staying well hydrated can help your condition improve, because the “waste management” control system in your body requires a lot of water to do its job.
- Look for face washes which contain the active ingredient benzoyl peroxide. This is the key ingredient in some of the best face washes. use a 5-10% benzoyl peroxide of mild to moderate acne and 10% for severe.
- Consult a doctor if your acne is open or bleeding. See a dermatolagist if over the counter remedies do not work. They specialize in skin care and can prescribe you medicines that help you improve it.
Home remedies for effective removal of Acne
- Don’t use oily products, such as hair pomades, heavy oil-based facial moisturizers, or oily cleansers.
- Use water-based make-up.
- Don’t get a facial. You may end up doing more harm than good.
- Wash properly once or twice a day, using a mild soap, and rub lightly with your fingertips and warm water. If your skin is oily, use a soap with benzoyl peroxide for its drying properties.
- Don’t use brushes, rough sponges, cleansers with granules or walnut hulls, or anything similar on the delicate facial skin.
Getting rid of Acne
Getting rid of acne may be possible by keeping a clean hanky with you to wipe away excess perspiration during the day. It’s true, keeping a soft, cotton cloth hanky with you during the day to wipe away excess perspiration will help you avoid acne breakouts, and reduce the chances of getting clogged pores.
- A paste made of cucumbers.
- Mint oil or mint juice.
- Honey has a natural antimicrobial action and has been used among the natural cures for acne for a long time.
- Some of the more modern of the natural ways to get rid of acne are toothpaste or oatmeal bath treatment, mixed into a paste and applied to the affected areas.
- Before bathing, apply a mixture of fresh tomato pulp, honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.
- If ur skin’s oily, then pimples and acne existance is for sure. Tight your pores first through Egg-White. and wash ur face 3 times a day.

Stretch marks are those prominent scars left behind when skin is overstretched and fibers in the middle layer called dermis, have broken. Fresh stretch marks appear initially as red lines and then they slowly fade to a pale white color over the course of several months. People who have them are considered unhealthy. With that in mind, why on earth would you want to keep them around? Stretch marks are deep scars, or scar tissue, that appears as stripes on the skin.
Causes of Stretch Marks
There are two main category of causes for Stretch marks: physical and hormonal. Stretch marks can be caused by extreme stretching of the skin, which keeps the skin from returning to its original condition. This extreme stretching is commonly the result of gaining large amounts of weight in a short period of time. Bodybuilders, pregnant women, and adolescents that have been through rapid growth spurts, often develop stretch marks. They are commonly found on the stomach, legs, buttocks, and breasts, but may appear nearly anywhere.
Tips for getting rid of stretch marks
- Many people have been successful by using Vic’s Vapor rub. It is used by applying it to a washcloth or paper towel and rubbing it forcefully into the scarred skin on a nightly basis for a few weeks.
- Increased circulation by taking hot baths and massaging the areas regularly reduces the stretch marks.
- Tanning can diminish and even eliminate minor stretch marks. Be sure to use sun screen.
Surgeries for getting rid of Stretch Marks
There are different expensive and difficult surgeries that will help to reduce the look of stretch marks. If they bother you that bad, then see a doctor about getting a microdermobrasion surgery to remove the marks. Below are some of the common surgery techniques:
- Microdermabrasion – Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure popular in spas and salons where the top-most layer of skin is removed by chemical or mechanical means.
- Endermologie – Endermologie machines massage and work the skin in order to increase circulation and expel toxins.
- Radiofrequency dermal remodeling
- Laser Therapy – Laser treatments are available that can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks and heal you skin. See your dermatologist for the latest information on these methods.
Natural ways to cure and get rid of Stretch Marks
- Watching your weight and massaging your skin on a regular basis will help prevent and improve the appearance of stretch marks. It should be obvious to most of us that watching what one eats should be a priority in such a health conscious society as we live in.
- Salicylic acid is a rare but equally effective way to get rid of stretch marks. Like the two suggestions above, acids of any sort are useful in helping to exfoliate the skin because they break apart the proteins (lipids) that hold skin cells, particularly dead skin cells, together.
- Choosing a healthy, varied diet will contribute to better skin elasticity.
- Be sure to include oily fish such as salmon, nuts and seeds, and lots of fruit and vegetables. There’s no magic combination of foods that can ‘erase’ stretch marks once you have them — but a nutritious diet has all sorts of benefits.
- Remember that no lotion or cream can prevent or erase stretch marks because they form in layers of skin too deep for any moisturizer to reach. If your pregnant belly is tight and itchy, you can keep it more comfortable by applying a rich moisturiser frequently.
- Cheap over the counter lotions (even Vaseline) usually work as well as expensive ointments to ease tight, dry, itchy skin.
- You can try using a little bit of face powder or foundation to hide your stretch marks. Sunless tanning products also help to camouflage stretch marks.
