A solution of Hydrogen Peroxide and baking soda with some dish soap will end that smell and clean the area.
A 500ml bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide poured into a bucket.
With 1/2 cup of Baking soda (this will foam)
and a squirt of dish soap

Mix gently and use this solution to wipe down the whole area from rim to floor and all around the toilet, make sure to reach the back of the commode and the area between the tank and wall.
Some more tips for bathroom odor removal
- Spray air freshener lightly. Do not spray if you are already using a lighted candle.
- Keep the bathroom door open when not in use. This will ensure that the bathroom is well ventilated.
- Check the window for rain leaks and mold/mildew.
- If there is a service panel, check the shower/tub overflow in the tub wall and the plumbing to see if it stays dry.
- It is very possible to have shower water sneak past your curtain or doors and drizzle into the floor, so have a helper watch for this while you're in the shower.
- Your towels and clothes need a clean washing machine, check the front door gasket on a modern water efficient front loader for gunk.
