You get a lot of annoyances in Windows XP. One common irritant is the low disk space warning that comes popping up repeatedly when a partition is low on free space. After the first time, this warning contains no fresh information, and is only an annoyance.
Steps to remove the chances of low lisk space
- Open the Registry Editor by going to Start > Run,typing in “regedit” and hitting [Enter].
Navigate to
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer”.
- Right-click on a blank area on the right side of the editor and create a new DWORD value. Name it “NoLowDisk-SpaceChecks”, double-click on it and enter the value “1”.
- Click on OK and exit the Registry Editor.
Although it might be tempting, it is not a good idea to change anything else in the Registry.
How to get rid of low disk space?
- The Recycle Bin is a feature that allows you to recover files you may have accidentally deleted; however, most of the files that are in there are rather useless. To empty it, simply right-click on the icon on your desktop and click empty.
- Uninstall Unused Software If you have been using your computer for quite some time now, it surely has accumulated a lot of software that you have installed.
