How to get rid of a Double Chin?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Double chins are generally associated with weight gain and aging but they may also occur as an inherited trait. Like any other part of the body the chin is prone to laying down fat, therefore the most common reason for getting a double chin is too much fat being stored at the lower jaw portion of the face.

Steps to reduce the Double Chin

  1. Follow your jaw exercise by moderate slapping under the jaw line. Keep this up for a couple of minutes each time.
  2. Beyond these home remedies a thriving market exists in devices and techniques designed to tone and tighten the jaw. However, the most decisive way of removing a double chin is by surgery and specifically via submental lipectomy.
  3. Monitoring and regulating your caloric intake is perhaps the most effective means of getting rid of a double chin. Science has proven that processing calories is what ages our bodies the most.
  4. you need to burn off more calories than you consume if you’re going to reduce the amount of fat anywhere on your body.
  5. A good posture is yet another way to help you get rid of a double chin. Sitting up straight and keeping your jaw slightly jutted during the day is going to keep that double chin away.
  6. The most important step to getting rid of a double chin is to improve your posture. Make a constant effort to sit up straight and hold your head up high above your shoulders.
  7. Stop yourself from slouching when you are sitting at your desk or watching television.
  8. Keep your shoulders held back and your spine straight while looking straight ahead of you when you sit or walk.
  9. When you sleep do not use more than one pillow and make sure your mattress provides enough support for your body.
  10. Waterbeds provide poor support and can encourage bad posture.
  11. Point your chin to the ceiling while sitting down. Open your mouth as widely as you can and pull your chin up to close your mouth. Repeat this exercise for several minutes.
  12. Slap under the chin with the back of your hand. When slapping, start gently and build up speed gradually. Do this for a couple of minutes each time, two or three times a day.

How to get rid of double chin naturally?

  1. Exercising the muscle called the platysma whose function is to pull down the corners of the mouth and pull down the jawbone will help reduce the double chin.
  2. Open your mouth wide, and then pull up your bottom lip over your bottom teeth. Move your jaw up and down as if you’re trying to scoop something up with it - imagine the movement of the shovel on a digger scooping up earth or debris on a building site. Perform ten repetitions of this exercise each time, and again do this two or three times a day.
  3. Eat healthily and natually. Eat an apple or grapes with some whole grain bread or cereal.
  4. See your doctor for advice about dieting and also let him check out any fluid problem you may have around your chin area. If you’re retaining fluid, that calls for more than just dieting.

How to get rid of Bag under Eyes?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

The skin around the eyes is quite thin and full of blood vessels which make it very sensitive. Puffiness or skin discoloration under the eyes affects just about everybody at some time or another. Usually puffy eyes will go away after a little bit of time or some treatments done at home.

For some of us these eyebags under the eyes are a worrisome ailment. While these conditions are seldom symptomatic of other illnesses, the usual cause is allergies, tiredness, or sometimes rarely though, heredity.

Getting rid of under eye bags

  • Determine how much sleep you need and try to get that amount regularly for a couple of weeks to see if that helps.
  • Remember that alcohol and drugs can adversely affect the quality of your sleep. Just keep yourself away from these products or use only in moderation for best results.
  • Apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily.
  • Eye puffiness is mostly just sodium buildup near your eyes, so a potato would work a million times better.
  • Drink lots of water, it’s often a symptom of your kidneys working to hard to get rid of toxins.
  • If you wear contacts, clean them better and don’t wear them to bed. exersice daily.
  • You should also stimulate around the eyes daily by massaging in a circle in the direction of your eyebrow growth around the eyes to help the area to rid itself of excess water.
  • Bags are sometimes caused by water retention, if you’re retaining water your problem may only be temporary and will clear on its own.
  • Sleep on your back. Apparently this keeps water from pooling up under your eyes overnight.
  • Use an anti-puffiness cream or serum, there are plenty out there. Dab it very gently under your eyes and pick a formula that can be worn alone or under makeup.
  • Stay clear of things that irritate allergies or the eyes in general.
  • Lying down, place the potato slices on your eyelids and leave in place for at least 10 minutes for best results.

Precautions for getting rid of eyebags

  1. Also, you can place a couple of spoons (metal) in your freezer overnight. While lying down, rest the cold spoons on your eyes for 10-20 minutes.
  2. Elevating the head while sleeping can prevent the gravitational redistribution of fluid that is associated with eye swelling.
  3. A low-carb diet can prevent eye puffiness by preventing water retention.
  4. Eating foods rich in vitamins, especially A, C and E, helps to reduce eye puffiness and to maintain clear, moist skin.

How to get rid of Hiccups?

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Breathing is an intrinsic thing which your body does without you knowing it. The brain sends messages along the phrenic nerve to the diaphragm. The muscle contracts, which makes your lungs fill with the air that comes into your body through your mouth or nose. Following are the ways to get rid of the ailment called Hiccup:

  1. Repeated swallowing works for mild cases. Do this by holding your breath and repeatedly swallowing as fast as you can, or by slowly drinking down a beverage with as many swallows as is possible. It’s important that you hold your breath for as many gulps as you can. Placing a napkin over a glass of water canl help moderate your speed.
  2. Plug your nose and ears then swallow 20 times as fast as possible.
  3. Quawk like a chicken while flapping your arms and bobbing your head as if you were pecking at something.
  4. Laugh. Think of something funny and the hiccups will be gone.
  5. Take a shot of lemon juice. Let a teaspoon of sugar dissolve under your tongue.
  6. Think of the ugliest person you’ve ever seen. Now picture them naked, rolling naked down a hill or riding a bike.
  7. Eat some pickles.

Hiccups and how to get rid of them?

  • If hiccups are very severe, you can try a spoonful of sugar or hold your breath as long as possible.
  • Breathe quickly (hyperventilation) to get rid of hiccups. Again, the same principal of breathing disruption seen in the above steps is applied here. Hyperventilating into a paper (never plastic) bag may help you to focus on the breathing enough to stop your hiccups.
  • Swallow a teaspoonful of dry sugar to get rid of hiccups.
  • If your hiccups last for longer than 24 hours (or 3 hours in the case of small children), they could be the symptom of a more serious medical condition and you should see a doctor.
  • Hiccups are in your head, but because you may be slightly inebriated, your concentration may be a little dulled. That’s why the breathing needs to be incorporated. Plus, you’re already drunk, so you probably won’t look all that silly by doing this anyway.
  • Get a paper bag and blow it up slowly. Breathe into and out of the  paper bag so that you don’t get fresh air for half a minute or so.  If that doesn’t work, someone might burst it with a bang when  you are not expecting it.
  • Drink water from the ‘wrong’ side of  the cup so that your mouth is facing
down and you have to really oncentrate, or wet yourself.
  • Cardamom with honey also helps in getting rid of hiccups.
  • If the period for hiccups is prolonged consult a doctor.
