Mice has always been a cause of nuisance for all of us. Discovering evidence that your house has been invaded by a mouse can be quite disturbing. Mice are generally nocturnal, so they are not likely to be seen unless the infestation is severe.   1. Peppermint oil is a natural deterrent for mouse. Its smell is simply too intense for rodents and they will not try to go near it. It also helps to mask the scent of any tasty morsels that have been missed when cleaning. You can get peppermint oil in most health food stores and even some major grocery stores. Place a drop or two on a cotton ball. Place the cotton balls in areas where mice are likely to enter your house, by doorways or heat vents, etc.
  2. Cleanliness is the key to keep things safe as well from mice. Keep your home clean. If there is nothing to eat, they will be less likely to stay.
  3. Maintaining a clean kitchen will help you get rid of mice. Mice are scavengers, and as such they eat whatever food you leave lying around.
  4. Make sure your home is sealed tight.
  5. Check your foundations to make sure pieces of it aren’t missing. Make sure doors and ground-level windows are sealed correctly.

Tips for keeping mouse out of your House

  • Cut back plants so that they don’t touch the building.
  • Keep garbage cans as far from your home as possible.
  • Inspect the foundation of your home for openings. Anything larger than a dime is large enough for a mouse to pass through.
  • Block all openings with rigid metal screen or other appropriate material.
